The experience

The tour starts with pickup from anywhere in Delhi between 7 AM and 11 AM, then moves through the capital's major sites: Qutub Minar (a 72.5-meter UNESCO tower), Lotus Temple with its 27 marble petals, India Gate, Parliament House, Raj Ghat, Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk market, Humayun's Tomb, and Swaminarayan Akshardham. After lunch at a local restaurant, the drive to Agra takes 3 to 4 hours along the highway.

Day two begins before dawn at the Taj Mahal, where you see the monument in low light before crowds arrive. The tour then covers Agra Fort (a UNESCO site and former Mughal capital residence) and the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, sometimes called the Baby Taj. Fatehpur Sikri, a 16th-century Mughal city 40 km from Agra, comes next, followed by a 4- to 5-hour drive to Jaipur. You check in at your hotel in the evening.

The final day explores Jaipur's Pink City: Panna Meena ka Kund (a thousand-year-old stepwell), Jal Mahal (a palace in the middle of Man Sagar Lake), Hawa Mahal (the five-story Palace of Winds), City Palace, and Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO collection of 19 astronomical instruments completed in 1734 with the world's largest stone sundial. The return drive to Delhi takes 4 to 5 hours. You arrive by around 9 PM, though you can request an earlier or later return. A private driver and fully vaccinated guide travel with you the entire route. Mineral water, WiFi on board, and a rickshaw ride through Old Delhi are included.
