The experience

The tour starts with airport pickup and a night to settle in Delhi. Day two is a full guided sightseeing day through Old Delhi and New Delhi. You'll walk through Jama Masjid, ride a rickshaw through Chandni Chowk market, see the Red Fort, India Gate, the Presidential Palace and Parliament House, then move on to Humayun's Tomb, the Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar and Raj Ghat. A professional guide walks you through each site and explains the history as you go.

On day three you drive 222 kilometers to Agra (about 4 hours), check into your hotel and explore the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and the Tomb of I'timad-ud-Daulah, often called the Baby Taj because its design inspired the larger monument. Day four takes you from Agra toward Jaipur with stops at Fatehpur Sikri, the 16th-century capital built by Emperor Akbar, and Chand Baori, a stepwell that drops 30 meters into the ground.

Day five in Jaipur includes a guided tour of Amer Fort on the outskirts, Jal Mahal floating in Man Sagar Lake, Royal Gaitor (the royal cenotaphs), City Palace, Jantar Mantar (an 18th-century astronomical observatory with the world's largest stone sundial), Hawa Mahal and Albert Hall Museum. On the final morning you have breakfast, check out and drive back to Delhi for drop-off at the airport, your hotel or anywhere else in the city you need to go.
