You'll arrive at New Delhi airport to a representative waiting with your name on a sign, then settle into your hotel while the city's noise fades to a hum outside. The next morning, the real work starts: a full day moving through Delhi's layers—the Red Fort's red sandstone walls where Shah Jahan once ruled, the chaos of Chandni Chowk market where you'll taste jalebi and paranthe from vendors who've been there for decades, Humayun's Tomb with its perfect Mughal gardens, the Presidential Palace's 340 rooms spread across five acres, India Gate standing 42 meters high, and Qutub Minar's 73-meter tower built in 1193. A rickshaw ride through Old Delhi's narrow streets gives you the texture of how people actually move through this city—cramped, loud, alive. Your private English-speaking guide handles the history; you handle the sensory overload.

The drive to Agra takes most of a day, but once you're there, the Taj Mahal doesn't disappoint the way some famous things do. You'll ride in a battery van to get close without the crowds, then stand in front of white marble that catches light differently depending on the hour. Shah Jahan built it for his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, and the scale of that grief is still visible. Agra Fort sits across the river—a crescent-shaped fortress with 20-meter walls and a maze of pavilions inside, including the Sheesh Mahal with its mirror work. You'll also visit a marble factory to see how artisans cut and polish the stone that built these monuments. The drive from Delhi to Agra is about 200 kilometers; you'll spend the afternoon and evening in Agra, then head out the next morning toward Jaipur.

On the way to Jaipur, you stop at Fatehpur Sikri, a red sandstone city that was the Mughal capital for only 13 years (1572–1585) before being abandoned. It's eerie and intact—mosques, palaces, courtyards—and you'll spend about two hours walking through it. Then Jaipur itself: the pink-walled city laid out in a grid, with the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) and its 953 small windows facing the street, City Palace still partly occupied by the royal family, and Jantar Mantar, an 18th-century astronomical observation site with the world's largest stone sundial. A jeep safari takes you up to Amer Fort on the hillside, a blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture built starting in 1592. You'll also visit a handmade jewels and stone-cutting factory—the kind of place tourists see but locals know is where the real work happens.

On day six, you make a same-day excursion from Jaipur to Pushkar, about 15 kilometers away. Pushkar is small, quiet, and centered on the only dedicated Brahma temple in India—the god of creation, worshipped almost nowhere else. The temple is marble with silver coins embedded in the walls and a silver turtle on the floor. Pushkar Lake is surrounded by 52 bathing ghats and over 500 temples, and pilgrims come year-round to bathe in it; in November, the Pushkar Camel Fair brings thousands. You'll return to Jaipur in the evening. On day seven, you drive back to Delhi and head to the airport.
