The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your Delhi hotel or the airport, then moves through the capital's landmarks: Jama Masjid in Old Delhi, Raj Ghat (Mahatma Gandhi's memorial on the Yamuna riverbank), India Gate, Parliament House, the Presidential Palace, Qutub Minar (a 73-meter sandstone minaret and UNESCO site), and Humayun's Tomb. After Delhi sightseeing, you drive 210 kilometers to Agra and stay overnight.

Day two begins with breakfast at your hotel, then you see the Taj Mahal: the white marble mausoleum built between 1631 and 1653 by Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Afterward, you visit Agra Fort, the red sandstone fortress built by Akbar on the Yamuna's bank, separated from the Taj Mahal by just 2.5 kilometers. On the drive to Jaipur, you stop at Fatehpur Sikri, the fortified ancient city 40 kilometers west of Agra that served as the Mughal capital between 1572 and 1585 under Emperor Akbar. It includes a mosque still in use and three palaces built for his wives.

In Jaipur, day three covers the Pink City's main sights: Hawa Mahal (the Palace of the Winds, a five-story red and pink sandstone structure with 953 decorated windows built in 1799), City Palace (where the Maharaja reigned, built between 1729 and 1732), and Jantar Mantar (an 18th-century astronomical observation site with 20 main instruments). The evening is free for shopping. On day four, you have breakfast and drive back to Delhi, arriving around 2pm for your airport transfer or hotel drop-off. The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or another language of your choice.

What if the Taj Mahal is closed when I want to visit?

The Taj Mahal closes every Friday. If you start the tour on Thursday, the itinerary changes to Delhi–Jaipur–Agra–Delhi so you see all three cities and avoid the Friday closure.

Can I arrive in Delhi late or leave early on the last day?

Yes. You return to Delhi around 2pm on day four, but you can arrange an earlier or later arrival time by letting the operator know after booking.

How long are the drives between cities?

The drive from Delhi to Agra is 210 kilometers. Transfer durations are approximate and depend on the time of day and traffic conditions.
