The experience

The tour starts with a minibus pickup from your hotel and a scenic drive into Phang Nga valley, ending at the pier where a traditional longtail boat waits. Before the water, you stop at Wat Suwan Kuha, an ancient cave temple where a giant golden reclining Buddha sits inside the rock, and wild monkeys roam the temple grounds. Then the boat moves out through one of Thailand's largest native mangrove forests, the water narrowing between the trees as the limestone mountains of Phang Nga Bay rise ahead.

The cruise passes through caves carved into the cliffs and stops at James Bond Island, where you walk on the beach and swim in the shallow water below the rock formations that Roger Moore's film crew used in the 1970s.
