The experience

How do you actually get into those narrow cave passages you see in photos of Phang Nga Bay? You paddle. The bay holds 42 islands and islets, but only a kayak fits through the winding cave entrances that open into lagoons, and only when the tide allows it. A skilled guide handles the paddle work on the double kayak while you sit in front, watching the limestone walls rise straight up from the water. Hong Island and Panak Island anchor the paddling section. The caves themselves are the route, not a side trip.

After the kayaking, the day shifts. You head back to the boat for a buffet lunch on board, then cruise past Khao Phing Kan (the limestone stack famous from the James Bond film), and stop on a secluded beach to swim and rest. Hotel pickup starts 30 to 60 minutes before departure, and the return transfer gets you back to your hotel when the day ends. National park entry and snacks are included. Bring swimming wear, sun protection and a camera.

Top questions

What languages is the guide in?

Live guide in English and Thai.

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 10 years); Infant (under 4).

Can I kayak Phang Nga Bay if I've never paddled before?

Yes. You sit in a stable double kayak while your guide paddles, so no paddling experience is needed. The tour suits all fitness levels, though it is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or pregnant travelers.

What are the caves in Phang Nga Bay actually like when you paddle through them?

The caves are narrow, winding passages that open into hidden lagoons. The rock formations surrounding them rise about 1,000 feet straight up from the water. You can only enter at certain times of day when the tides are suitable, which is why a guide's timing matters.

What happens if the weather turns bad on the day of my tour?

Weather and sea conditions determine whether the tour operates. The operator reserves the right to cancel in bad weather and will offer an alternative date or refund if that happens.

Does the price include lunch and the national park entrance fee?

Yes. Buffet lunch on board, snacks, national park entry and hotel pickup and drop-off are all included. Gratuities are optional.
