The experience

The tour runs five hours total, with roughly three of those spent traveling: hotel pickup, the boat ride between sites, and the return. You board a traditional Thai long-tail boat and head out across the bay, passing mangrove forests and the dramatic limestone formations that rise straight from the water. The boat is built for this landscape: shallow draft, open sides, built to move slowly enough to see what you're passing.

Tapu Island, known worldwide as James Bond Island after the 1974 film "The Man with the Golden Gun," is your first stop. From there the boat continues to Koh Panyee, a working fishing village where houses, shops and a mosque sit on wooden platforms above the water. You walk through the village at your own pace, watching daily life unfold on the stilts: nets drying, boats moored below, children playing on the wooden walkways. Lunch is on your own at a local restaurant in the village.

Your guide speaks English throughout and handles the logistics: park entry, boat operation, timing around tides. The long-tail boat is shared with other travelers on the tour. Bottled water is provided, and the air-conditioned vehicle means the travel time between your hotel and the pier is comfortable even in the heat.
