Paddle three islands and slip into a hidden lagoon before lunch on the beach

A full-day self-paddle kayaking trip in Phang Nga Bay departing from Phuket with hotel pickup, sit-inside kayaks, a certified guide, lunch and all transfers by van and speedboat. The route reaches a less-visited part of the bay, stopping at three islands, a secluded beach and a hong (a hidden lagoon enclosed by limestone cliffs) before returning to Phuket by 4 pm. No kayaking experience is required.

The experience

The day starts with pickup between 7:15 and 7:30 am from your Phuket hotel, then a van ride to the pier where you board a speedboat ferry to Koh Yao Noi. Once on the island, you switch to a private longtail boat that takes you to the paddling islands. You paddle sit-inside kayaks around three islands in the less-crowded section of the bay, moving at your own pace with the guide leading the way.

A stop on a secluded beach breaks the morning paddle, and lunch is served there: free-range chicken, locally caught seafood, or a vegetarian option you choose at booking. After eating, you paddle to a hong, a hidden lagoon ringed by limestone walls that opens to the sea through a narrow passage. The lagoon sits still and sheltered, a different kind of paddling from the open water. By mid-afternoon, the longtail returns you to the main pier on Koh Yao Noi to catch the 4:00 pm speedboat back to Phuket.

The guide is certified to international first aid standards and speaks fluent English. All transfers (van, speedboat and longtail) are included, along with the national park fee, bottled water, lunch and comprehensive insurance. Groups stay small, and family and group discounts are available. Contact the operator directly if your party is smaller than four guests.

Is this one for you?The full day, pickup through late-afternoon return, means you commit the whole daylight window to the bay, so plan around it if you're mixing activities on your Phuket itinerary. Small groups and the less-visited section of the bay make this a quieter paddle than the crowded limestone tours closer to shore.

How long does the full kayaking day take from hotel pickup to drop-off?

The day runs from 7:15 or 7:30 am pickup through a 4:00 pm speedboat return to Phuket, making it a full-day commitment with the van ride back to your hotel afterward.

What is a hong and why is it worth paddling to?
