The experience

The day starts with pickup at your hotel, then a drive to Phang Nga Pier where you board a private longtail boat. By 10:30 AM you're standing in front of Khao Phing Kan, the Leaning Rock, and then the Nail Rock at Koh Tapu. The limestone formation that appeared in a James Bond film. The boat moves between islands at a pace that lets you photograph and absorb each one without rushing.

Lunch happens at Koh Panyee, a sea gypsy village where houses sit on the water and fishing nets hang between stilts. After eating, you trade the boat for a canoe and paddle into Tam Lod, a cave system where the water runs under limestone walls and the light filters through gaps in the rock. The same happens at Koh Panak Cave on the return. By mid-afternoon you visit Ice Cream Cave and Diamond Cave (both named for the way light hits the formations inside) before the boat carries you back to the pier and then to your hotel.
