The experience

The day starts early at one of two marina departure points (Royal Phuket Marina or Phuket Boat Lagoon), where you'll meet your English-speaking guide over coffee, tea, and a light Thai snack. From there, the speedboat heads into Phang-Nga Bay, a protected area of limestone cliffs and emerald water where the landscape shifts constantly as you move between stops. The boat carries roughly 39 guests, though larger vessels certified for up to 55 passengers may be used depending on weather and sea conditions.

Most of the day centers on what you do in the water. At Hong Islands, you'll paddle a sea canoe through narrow rock passages and into hidden lagoons, guided by the crew through strange limestone formations and caves. The Ice-Cream Diamond Cave comes next. You'll trek inside to see stalactites and stalagmites, with a helmet provided for safety. At Khao Phing Kan (Leaning Rock), the limestone outcrop famous from The Man With the Golden Gun, you'll have time to photograph the rock and the bay. Lunch is a buffet (vegetarian and non-vegetarian options) served at Ko Panyi, a Muslim village built on stilts where you'll also get a guided walk of about 30 minutes to see how people live on the water.

After lunch, the final stop is Naka Noi Island, where you can swim, rest on the beach, or try optional activities like jet skiing or banana boat rides (rented separately from vendors on the island). The return to the pier happens around 6:30 PM, though traffic can delay your arrival back at your hotel. Onboard, you'll have access to water, soft drinks, fruit, and snacks throughout the day. Life jackets and all kayaking gear are provided. Bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a change of clothes. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing so you can change easily without needing the cramped onboard toilet. The ride can be intense and choppy if winds are high.
