Hotel pickup in an air-conditioned minivan takes you to Royal Phuket Marina, where you board a speedboat for the run to Phi Phi Leh. The boat carries a live English-speaking guide and a small group. The pace is set by the stops, not by how fast you want to move. You'll spend the morning and early afternoon in the water at four separate sites, so bring a towel and plan to be wet most of the day.
Maya Bay is the first stop. The cove where "The Beach" was filmed, ringed by limestone cliffs and shallow enough to wade. From there the boat heads to Pileh Lagoon, a natural pool enclosed by rock walls where the water sits so still it looks like a swimming pool in the sea. You snorkel here among the coral and fish. Viking Cave comes next, a sea cave you cruise through to see the bird-nest harvesting site and then drop into the water for snorkeling along a vibrant reef. Monkey Beach is a brief sightseeing stop where you can watch macaques on the shore. Lunch is a buffet served at a beachside restaurant at Ton Sai Bay, with a view of Phi Phi Don and time to walk around after you eat.
The final stop is Khai Island, where the sand is white and the water is clear enough to swim in for as long as you want before the boat returns to Royal Phuket Marina. From there a minivan takes you back to your hotel. Snorkeling equipment is provided. Fins can be rented at the marina for an extra charge. The guide handles the route and the timing, so you don't have to plan the day. You just show up and follow the schedule.
