The experience

The day starts with hotel pickup between 7 and 8 a.m., depending on which boat you choose. The Best Value speedboat picks up from most Phuket areas; the Signature speedboat covers all zones including Mai Khao and Pa Klok; the Comfort catamaran serves Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala and Phuket Town, or you can meet at AT Pier near Rassada; the All-Inclusive catamaran picks up from anywhere in Phuket. You'll arrive at the marina or pier by 9 to 9:45 a.m., collect your mask, snorkel and life jacket, and board after a safety briefing and light breakfast with coffee, tea and Thai snacks.

The boat departs around 9:25 to 9:45 a.m. and heads to Pileh Lagoon first, where you swim and snorkel in clear water surrounded by limestone cliffs. Next is Loh Samah Bay, a snorkeling site with hard and soft coral and fish like scorpionfish and parrotfish at depths of 5 to 20 meters. You'll stop at Monkey Beach on the southwestern side of Tonsai Bay to photograph wild monkeys from the boat: landing is not permitted to keep interactions safe. Then the boat docks at Loh Sama and you walk five minutes to Maya Bay, where you can wade and photograph the white sand and turquoise water, though swimming inside the bay is prohibited to protect the reef. Lunch is a full Thai buffet served on Phi Phi Don island, with dietary needs accommodated if you mention them beforehand. The afternoon includes time at Khai Island for swimming, snorkeling and paddleboarding (the All-Inclusive option visits Bamboo Island and Maiton Island instead, where you can also paddleboard and watch for dolphins). Seasonal fresh fruit and soft drinks are served throughout the day.

The boat returns to the marina around 5:30 p.m., and your driver takes you back to your hotel by 6:45 to 7 p.m. National park fees (400 THB for adults, 200 THB for children) are not included in the Best Value, Signature and Comfort options and must be paid in cash at the pier. Only the All-Inclusive catamaran includes them in the price. All boats carry certified guides and a safety-focused crew. Seasick pills are free at the lounge if you need them.

Can I swim and snorkel at Maya Bay?

You can wade and photograph Maya Bay, but swimming inside the bay is prohibited by the Thai government to protect the reef ecosystem. You'll dock at Loh Sama and walk five minutes to the bay. The bay closes every year from August 1 to September 30 for environmental restoration.

Will I see monkeys at Monkey Beach?

Monkeys are likely but not guaranteed at Monkey Beach, since they are wild animals. The boat does not land there. You photograph them from a safe distance aboard the vessel to avoid bites and scratches.

What food and drinks are included?
