The experience

The speedboat leaves Phuket for Phi Phi Island and its surrounding waters, where the day splits between snorkeling stops and beach time. You'll anchor at Loh Samah Bay to snorkel among coral and colorful fish, then move to a natural swimming pool ringed by limestone cliffs where you can jump in from the boat. Monkey Beach comes next (a short walk on sand where wild monkeys roam), and the guide will give you time to relax or take photos before the boat heads out again.

Maya Bay, the beach from the film "The Beach," is the centerpiece stop. You'll have time to wade ashore, walk the sand and frame photos of the dramatic limestone backdrop, though the bay closes annually from August 1 to September 30 for environmental recovery. During that window you can view and photograph it from the boat only. Pileh Bay offers another snorkeling chance, and Khai Island rounds out the reef time with more shallow-water coral and fish.

Lunch is a Thai-style buffet served on the boat or on one of the islands, with fresh fruit, soft drinks, tea and coffee included. Snorkeling equipment and life jackets are provided.
