The experience

The day starts with a minivan pickup from your Phuket hotel and a drive to Royal Phuket Marina, where you board the speedboat and head out to Maya Bay. This limestone cove gained fame as the filming location for "The Beach" and sits inside Ao Phang Nga National Park. From there the boat moves to Pileh Lagoon, a sheltered pool ringed by sheer rock walls where you can swim and snorkel in shallow, clear water: locals call it a swimming pool in the sea. The guide hands out fins at the start, and snorkeling gear is yours to use throughout the day.

Next is Viking Cave, where you'll see the rock formations and the bird's nest harvesting site, then move into the water for snorkeling along a coral reef. Monkey Beach comes next, a stop to watch macaques in their natural habitat. Lunch is a buffet served at a beachside restaurant on Ton Sai Bay, with views of Phi Phi Don and time to walk around afterward. The final stop is Khai Island, a white sand beach in Ao Phang Nga National Park where you can swim and snorkel again before the boat returns to Royal Phuket Marina. A minivan then drives you back to your hotel.

The whole route depends on tides and weather, so the order and timing shift: the operator adjusts the day to what the sea allows. Travel insurance is included. Alcoholic drinks are available for purchase at the marina. Children must have an adult with them on the boat.
