The experience

The day starts with pickup from your Phuket hotel in an air-conditioned minivan, then heads to Royal Phuket Marina where you board a speedboat for the run to Phi Phi Leh. The boat cuts through limestone cliffs and open bays, arriving first at Maya Beach (the cove that appeared in the film "The Beach"), where you can swim in the shallow turquoise water. From there, the tour moves to Pileh Lagoon, a natural swimming pool ringed by sheer rock walls where the water sits so still it looks like glass.

Snorkeling happens at Viking Cave, where you drift over a vibrant coral reef and watch schools of tropical fish move through the water. The cave itself sits above the waterline, marked by wall paintings and used for bird nest harvesting. Monkey Beach comes next, a working beach where you walk the white sand and see the animals the place is named for. Throughout the stops, your guide points out what you're looking at and handles the logistics so you don't have to.

Lunch is a buffet served at a beachside restaurant at Ton Sai Bay on Phi Phi Don, with views across the water. After eating, you have time to walk the beach or rest before the speedboat returns you to Royal Phuket Marina. The minivan then takes you back to your hotel. The whole day runs about seven to eight hours from pickup to drop-off. National park fees (400 THB for adults, 200 THB for children) are paid to the guide at check-in. Fins can be rented for 200 THB if you want them.
