The Experience

The speedboat leaves Khao Lak in the morning and heads first to Phi Phi Lay Island, where Maya Bay opens up—the white-sand cove that appeared in The Beach. You swim in the clear water and have time to walk the beach before the boat moves on to explore the Viking Cave, Pileh Bay's emerald lagoon and the dramatic limestone cliffs of Nui Bay. The route is built around the snorkeling: tropical reefs line these islands and hold hundreds of fish, so most of the day splits between the water and the boat moving between stops.

Lunch happens on Phi Phi Don Island at a beachside restaurant on Ton Sai Bay, with free time on the beach afterward. The tour then swings past Monkey Beach for sightseeing before heading to Khai Nai Island in Ao Phang Nga National Park, where you snorkel again and swim off the white sand. Life jackets are on-board, and the guide speaks English throughout the day. A small refreshment waits at the pier before departure and another comes during the boat ride.

The tour needs a minimum of 10 people to run. If cancellation happens, the operator offers a different date, an alternative tour or a full refund. Note that Maya Bay closes every year from August 1 to September 30 for environmental recovery; during those months, you view the bay from the boat and cannot step onto the beach.
