The Experience

The day starts with minivan pickup from your hotel and a light breakfast at the pier before boarding the speed boat for the cruise to Mu Ko Surin National Park. The boat carries a maximum of 35 people, which means the deck doesn't feel packed and there's room to move between snorkel stops. You'll be looked after by the Wow Andaman crew throughout—trained staff who handle the logistics so you focus on the water.

Three snorkel stops anchor the morning and afternoon: Pakkard Bay, Nemo Village and Ao Mae Yai, each with turquoise water and fringing reef. The islands themselves—Koh Surin Nua and Koh Surin Tai, plus three smaller satellite islands—hold both the snorkeling sites and the day's other stops. Between the reef dives, you'll visit the Moken village to meet the Sea Gypsies and see how they live, still building homes from raw materials and fishing by hand. It's a genuine encounter, not a staged performance: they welcome respectful visitors into their community.

Lunch happens at the National Park canteen on Koh Surin Nua, and afterwards you have time to swim at Mai Ngam Beach or walk the 2-kilometre path if you'd rather stay on land. The afternoon includes one more snorkel site at Ao Mae Yai before the speed boat heads back to Khao Lak. You'll have light refreshments at the pier and then a minivan ride back to your hotel. Snorkeling equipment, life jacket and towel are provided; the guide speaks English and Thai.
