Four stops in one morning: monkeys, a palace, the market, and a waterfall thirty minutes out

You get picked up from your hotel and visit four major Ubud attractions in a single morning: the Monkey Forest with its 340 macaques in a temple setting, the central palace where the King's family still lives, the traditional Art Market packed with local crafts, and Tegenungan Waterfall a half-hour drive away. Your private English-speaking driver handles all navigation and cultural context, so you move at your own pace without joining a group or arranging transport separately.

The Experience

Picture this: you're standing at the entrance to Ubud Monkey Forest and about two hundred macaques are moving through the canopy above you, some perched on temple stones, others crossing the path without a second glance. The forest is a nature reserve and a religious temple complex at once, home to around 340 crab-eating macaques split into four family groups that occupy different zones of the park. Your private driver knows which areas are quietest and where the monkeys tend to gather, so you're not just wandering — you're actually seeing them, not just the backs of other tourists' phones.

After the forest, you head into Ubud town proper. The palace — Puri Saren, as locals call it — sits right in the center of the village, and it's the kind of place where you can feel the weight of actual use: the King's Family Temple is still there, performances happen most nights, and the whole compound has that lived-in quality that makes it different from a museum. Then comes the Art Market, which is exactly what it sounds like: stalls crammed with silver jewelry, batiks, wood carvings, sarongs, and things hung from the ceiling because there's nowhere else to put them. It's crowded and a bit chaotic, but that's the point — this is where locals shop too, not just tourists. Your driver can help you navigate it without getting lost in the alleys.

The last stop is Tegenungan Waterfall, about thirty minutes southeast of town down village roads lined with rice fields. It's the closest waterfall you can reach from Ubud without a long drive, and the road itself is part of the experience — green on both sides, quiet except for the occasional scooter. The whole tour runs five to seven hours depending on how long you linger at each spot, and because it's private, you're not waiting for anyone else or being rushed through.
