The experience

Your guide meets you at your Cairo or Giza hotel and drives you in a private air-conditioned vehicle to the Giza Plateau. The Giza Pyramids sit just outside the city, and the tour begins with the Great Pyramid of Khufu: the largest of the three main pyramids and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Your Egyptologist guide explains the 4,500-year-old construction, the limestone blocks, and the stories of Pharaoh Khufu's reign and burial rituals. You move through the complex at your own pace, stopping to photograph and absorb the scale of what stands before you.

From there, you visit the Pyramid of Khafre and explore the Valley Temple, where massive granite and limestone blocks remain from the pharaoh's funerary complex. The Great Sphinx comes next: the lion-bodied, human-headed monument carved from a single limestone block, standing guard over the plateau. Your guide shares the myths, the theories about its construction, and the connection between the Sphinx and Pharaoh Khafre. At the Giza Panorama viewpoint, you take in the entire plateau at once: all three pyramids, the Sphinx, and the desert stretching beyond.
