The experience

The guide meets you at your hotel and drives you to the Giza Pyramids plateau. You'll start with the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the largest of the three, and have time to walk around the site and take in the scale of it. Then you move through the other pyramids at your own pace, with your archaeologist guide explaining what you're standing in front of. A bottle of mineral water comes with you throughout the day.

At the panoramic area, the highest point on the plateau, you have the option to ride a camel for 20 minutes. This is where the view opens up and you can see all three pyramids together. After that, the tour takes you to the Great Sphinx, and then back down to a local restaurant for Egyptian food. The meal is included, and it's a chance to sit and process what you've just seen before the drive back to your hotel.

You can book this as all-inclusive (guide, transport, entry, lunch, and water included) or as car and guide only, choosing what you want to add at checkout. The camel ride and the option to go inside the Great Pyramid are both available as add-ons. The whole experience runs between three and six hours depending on how much time you spend at each stop and whether you add the interior pyramid visit.
