The experience

Your guide and driver pick you up from your hotel and drive across Cairo to the Giza Plateau. From there, the tour unfolds around the three main pyramids (Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure) each one a different scale and era of pharaonic ambition. You'll walk the grounds around each structure, hear the engineering details and the reign of each king, and stop at the Panorama Point where all three line up against the desert for photographs. The Valley Temple of Khafre, where the pharaoh's body was prepared for mummification, sits nearby and gives you a sense of the ritual machinery behind the monuments.

The Great Sphinx (a limestone guardian with a lion's body and a pharaoh's head) closes the tour. Your guide will explain the legends and the mysteries that still surround it. If you want to go inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu, that's optional and your guide can arrange it. Entry into any of the pyramids requires a separate ticket beyond the tour price. The Pyramid of Menkaure, the smallest of the three, sits in a quieter corner of the plateau and draws fewer crowds, so you get a more reflective moment there.

The whole tour runs five to six hours. You travel in an air-conditioned vehicle, drink bottled water and eat snacks along the way. If you book the all-inclusive option, lunch and entry fees are covered. Otherwise, those are separate purchases your guide will help you arrange on the day. Public transportation options exist nearby if you prefer to meet your guide at the plateau instead of arranging hotel pickup.
