The experience

Your hotel pickup starts the day, and the drive takes you to the Giza Plateau near Cairo. Once there, your Egyptologist guide leads you through the three main pyramids: the Great Pyramid of Khufu (the largest, built around 2580 BC with over 2 million limestone blocks), the Pyramid of Khafre (which still has casing stones at its top), and the Pyramid of Menkaure (the smallest, about 65 meters high). The guide explains how each was built and what it meant in the pharaoh's journey to the afterlife.

You stop at a panoramic viewpoint where all three pyramids line up across the desert, then ride a camel for 30 minutes with views of the plateau. The route takes you to the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple of Khafre, where the pharaoh's body was prepared for burial. If you chose lunch when you booked, you eat at a local restaurant before heading back to your hotel. Entry fees are optional at checkout, as is the lunch.
