The experience

The tour runs five to six hours from pickup at your Downtown Cairo accommodation. An Egyptologist guide meets you and begins with an introduction to ancient Egyptian civilization on the way to the site: the beliefs that drove the construction, the scale of the engineering, and the stories behind each pyramid. This framing means the monuments make sense before you stand in front of them, not after.

At Giza, you'll see the Great Pyramid of Cheops (146.6 meters tall, the largest of the three), Khafre's Pyramid (143.5 meters, notable for its elevated position and the remnants of its limestone casing), and Menkaure's Pyramid (65 meters, the smallest). Your guide points out the best photo spots on the plateau, then you have free time to enter the pyramids themselves. An extra ticket is required for interior access, and your guide remains outside. Inside, you'll encounter the burial chambers, passages and the King's Chamber with its sarcophagus.

After the pyramids, a 20-minute camel ride takes you across the plateau with all three monuments visible behind you. This is where most visitors capture their signature photos. The ride concludes at the Great Sphinx, the 73-meter limestone statue with the body of a lion and the head of Pharaoh Khafre, where the tour ends before your return to Cairo. Local Egyptian lunch (falafel or kushary, depending on your booking choice) is included and can be adapted for vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free diets if you mention your needs to your guide.
