- Tour Seongeup Folk Village
- Visit Dongmun Market or Seogwipo Olle Market
The experience
The tour runs seven to eight hours and picks you up directly from your cruise terminal (either in Jeju City downtown or Seogwipo City), so you step straight from the ship into a private vehicle. You choose the vehicle size at checkout: a regular taxi, jumbo taxi, minivan or minibus, each priced per vehicle rather than per person, which means a family or small group travels together without splitting up. Your driver speaks English, Korean, Japanese or Chinese and handles all navigation while you move through the stops.
Manjanggul cave anchors the day. The lava tube stretches 7.4 kilometers total and formed thousands of years ago. You walk about 1 kilometer into the second entrance, where the tunnel walls reach 23 meters high and 18 meters wide. The lava column at the end of the tourist section stands 7.6 meters tall: the highest known lava column anywhere. You'll see stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and lava shelves formed over millennia. The cave is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, though it closes the first Wednesday of each month. When it does, the Haenyeo Museum replaces it on the itinerary, where you learn about the female divers who harvest seaweed, abalone, octopus and sea urchin by hand off Jeju's coast.
The stops branch depending on your starting point. From Jeju terminal, you visit Seongsan Ilchulbong (a 182-meter tuff cone formed five thousand years ago by underwater volcanic eruptions, with a preserved crater and sea cliffs), where a women diver show runs during your visit. Seongeup Folk Village preserves the living sites of old Jeju residents, who still inhabit the village and volunteer as guides. The Saw-leaf Zelkova and Japanese hackberry trees in the center are landmarks worth time. Dongmun Market, the largest seafood market in Jeju City, stocks seasonal fish, pickled fish and other local products. From Seogwipo terminal, you see Jeongbang Waterfall instead, where water drops 23 meters straight off a cliff into a pool before flowing to the sea, and Olle Market, the largest in Seogwipo, which opened in the early 1960s and now spans 620 meters of arcade. All entry fees and driver lunch are included. Fuel and parking are covered in the price.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese.
What's the difference between the Jeju terminal and Seogwipo terminal routes?
Jeju terminal tours include Haenyeo Museum (or Manjanggul if the museum is closed), Seongsan Ilchulbong with a women diver show, Seongeup Folk Village and Dongmun Market. Seogwipo terminal tours feature Jeongbang Waterfall, Manjanggul cave, Gwangchigi Beach, Seongsan Ilchulbong and Olle Market. Both routes include the lava tube and the tuff cone, but the markets and waterfall differ based on which port you depart from.
How far can you walk into Manjanggul cave?
Manjanggul cave stretches 7.4 kilometers total, but tourists enter through the second entrance and can walk approximately 1 kilometer into the tunnel. The main passage is 23 meters high and 18 meters wide, and you'll reach the 7.6-meter lava column at the end of the accessible section.
Does the tour run if my ship arrives late or leaves early?
The itinerary adjusts depending on your cruise boarding time, so the operator can fit the stops into your schedule. Confirm your ship's timing when you book so the route can be planned around your departure.
What happens if Manjanggul cave is closed?
Manjanggul closes the first Wednesday of each month. When it does, the Haenyeo Museum replaces it on the itinerary, where you learn about the traditional female divers of Jeju Island and their work harvesting seafood by hand.
Are meals included?
Driver lunch is included in the price. Personal food and drinks are your choice. The tour stops at markets where you can purchase items if you wish, but meals beyond the driver's lunch are not covered.
