The experience

The route splits by departure point. From Jeju Cruise Terminal, you head east to Seopeup Folk Village, Seongsan Ilchulbong, Manjanggul cave, Dongmun Market, and the Haenyeo Museum: a museum dedicated to Jeju's female divers, recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2016. From Seogwipo Gangjeong Cruise Terminal, the tour covers the south and east: Oedolgae (a 20-meter sea stack rising alone from the water), Jeongbang Waterfall (23 meters high, the only waterfall in Korea that falls directly into the sea), Seopjikoji cape, Seongsan Ilchulbong, and Seopeup Folk Village. Your guide chooses the route based on which terminal your ship uses.

Seongsan Ilchulbong is the centerpiece: a volcanic tuff cone formed about 5,000 years ago on the ocean floor, now one of Jeju's top ten scenic views. Walking the trails there lets you see the volcanic crater and surrounding ocean. You can also watch haenyeo divers at work at Seongsanpo Port. Manjanggul is one of the world's largest lava tubes at 7.4 kilometers long. You walk about 1 kilometer into it and see formations like stalactites, stalagmites, and a 7.6-meter lava column: the highest in the world. Jeongbang Waterfall's black cliff and the legend carved into it ("Seobulgwacha," left by a man searching for an elixir plant centuries ago) add historical depth to the landscape.

The tour is built around the cruise schedule: the earlier you disembark, the more time you have at each site. A professional English-speaking guide and driver are provided for groups of 15 or more. Pickup and drop-off happen at your cruise terminal, so you don't arrange transport separately. Entry fees, fuel, parking, vehicle insurance and air conditioning are all covered in the price. If Monday falls during your port day, the Haenyeo Museum or Jeju Stone Culture Park closes, so the guide substitutes Dongmun Traditional Market or Sangumburi instead.

Top questions

How does the tour route change depending on which cruise terminal I'm departing from?

Jeju Cruise Terminal tours head east to Seopeup Folk Village, Seongsan Ilchulbong, Manjanggul cave, Dongmun Market, and Haenyeo Museum. Seogwipo Gangjeong Cruise Terminal tours cover the south and east, visiting Oedolgae sea stack, Jeongbang Waterfall, Seopjikoji cape, Seongsan Ilchulbong, and Seopeup Folk Village. Your guide follows the route that matches your ship's port location.

What is Seongsan Ilchulbong and why is it on every itinerary?

Seongsan Ilchulbong is a tuff cone formed 5,000 years ago from a volcanic eruption on the ocean floor, now one of Jeju Island's top ten scenic views. It's famous as a sunrise spot and a trekking destination. Walking the trails gives you views of the volcanic crater and the surrounding ocean, and you can watch haenyeo divers working at the nearby port.

Can I walk inside Manjanggul cave, or is it just a viewing area?

Manjanggul is one of the world's largest lava tubes at 7.4 kilometers long, and you walk about 1 kilometer into it as a tourist. Inside you see various cave formations including stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones, and a 7.6-meter lava column: the highest lava column in the world.

What happens if the museum is closed on the day of my tour?

Jeju Stone Culture Park and Haenyeo Museum close every Monday. On those days, the guide substitutes Dongmun Traditional Market or Sangumburi so you still visit a comparable site and don't lose part of the itinerary.

Does the tour time change based on when my ship arrives or departs?

Yes. The tour runs 6 to 8 hours including travel time, and the itinerary adjusts to fit your cruise ship's port schedule. The earlier you disembark, the more time you have at each attraction, so the guide tailors the pace to your actual available hours.

What's included in the price, and what do I need to pay for separately?

Included: pickup and drop-off at your cruise terminal, professional English-speaking guide and driver, all entry and admission fees, vehicle with air conditioning, fuel, and parking. Not included: lunch, drinks, personal expenses, and gratuities (recommended but not compulsory).
