The experience

The tour splits into three separate days, each covering a different region of the island. Day one focuses on the east, starting with Seongeup Folk Village where stone walls and houses from the Joseon Dynasty still stand, then moving to Seongsan Ilchulbong, the volcanic tuff cone that rises 182 meters and is said to resemble an ancient castle. You'll hike for 50 minutes and watch a women divers' show at 2pm, or visit the Haenyeo Museum if the performance is canceled. The day also includes Manjanggul Lava Tube, one of the world's finest lava tunnels and a UNESCO site, where you walk through massive underground passages formed thousands of years ago.

Day two moves south to see Jeongbang Waterfall, which flows directly into the sea, and Jusangjeolli Cliff with its distinctive black hexagonal stone pillars. You'll walk through the green tea rows at O'Sulloc Tea Museum with tastings and desserts included. Mt. Halla is the main destination for the afternoon, though the specific trail depends on weather. Alternatives include the 1100 Wetland or Saebyeol Oreum. Day three takes you west to the 1100 Altitude Wetland at Mt. Halla, Cheonjiyeon Waterfall in a subtropical forest setting, Sangumburi Temple, and Songaksan for panoramic views across the ocean toward Sanbangsan and Hallasan. The tour ends at Aewol Cafe Street, where you can spend free time by the ocean.

You'll travel in an air-conditioned bus with an English-speaking licensed guide. Pickup options start as early as 8:20am from Shilla Duty Free or as late as 9:00am from Ocean Suites Jeju, with intermediate times from Lotte Duty Free and Jeju Airport. The group size maxes out at 43 travelers. Seongsan Ilchulbong entrance costs KRW 8,000 by cash or KRW 13,000 by card per person, paid directly to your guide on-site. Hueree Natural Life Park admission is also separate. Seasonal changes mean some stops rotate: pink muhly appears late September to mid-November, cherry blossoms late March to mid-April, and hydrangea late May to early July. The east and southwest itineraries may run in reverse order depending on the operator's schedule.
