Jeju Island Tour: Waterfalls & Tea Fields from Gangjung Port
Waterfall, cliff, temple, tea field: five stops on Jeju's southern coast, paced to your interests.
A private tour of Jeju Island for cruise ship passengers porting at Gangjung naval base, with an English-speaking guide and air-conditioned vehicle. The itinerary centers on the island's southwest: Jeongbang Waterfall (which falls directly into the ocean), hexagonal stone columns at a cliff edge, an old Buddhist temple, and O'Sulloc Tea Museum set in the island's largest green tea field. Each stop takes roughly 30 minutes to explore, and you can adjust the route on the day itself based on your pace and interests. The tour runs 8 hours and includes the guide, vehicle, insurance and parking. You pay separately for entrance fees (around $3 per person) and meals.

The experience
How much time do you actually have between ship departure and the next port? That question decides everything on a cruise day, and this tour is built for it. You get picked up at Gangjung naval port with an English-speaking guide who has spent more than 15 years on Jeju Island and knows its history and culture. The guide arrives with a flexible itinerary already sketched out, but the real plan happens in a five-minute conversation on the day itself, face to face, so the route fits your ship's schedule and the weather.
The southwest loop hits five named stops. Jeongbang Waterfall is the only waterfall in South Korea that falls directly into the ocean. You'll stand at the base where fresh mountain water meets the sea. From there the route moves to Oedolgae, a cliff formation with hexagonal stone columns, then to Yakcunsa, an old Buddhist temple known for its architecture. Jusangjuli hexagonal joint columns come next: another cliff formation where the basalt has fractured into geometric shapes. Each stop takes about 30 minutes to explore, though you can linger or move on depending on what catches your eye. The final stop is O'Sulloc Tea Museum, set inside Jeju's largest green tea field. You can walk the rows, visit the museum, and sit in the cafe with a cup of green tea and a view.
The vehicle is air-conditioned and sized to your group: a van for 4 to 7 passengers, a minibus for up to 13, or a larger coach for 13 to 25. The guide speaks English (and also offers Chinese and Japanese on request). Parking, fuel and vehicle insurance are included. You'll pay entrance fees separately (most are around $2 to $3 per person), and your own meals and drinks. If you're traveling with infants or small children, specialized seats are available to rent for $20.
