How do you get from Petra into the desert without renting your own vehicle? A private car picks you up at your hotel and drives you to Wadi Rum, where a 4x4 Jeep takes over for the core of the day. The landscape shifts as you go: red sand dunes rise and fall, rock formations tower overhead, and the horizon stretches flat and enormous. You're not watching from the vehicle: the tour stops regularly so you can get out, walk on the sand, climb the dunes and explore the canyons on foot.
