The experience

You start the afternoon on your own ATV, riding rough roads between forests and tropical gardens to reach a working organic farm. There you spend 30 minutes tasting and learning about Dominican staples (coffee, green tea, chocolate, mamajuana, and cigars) before a 25-minute drive to Macao Beach. The beach sits below limestone cliffs, and you have time to swim, walk the sand, and grab food or drinks if you want them before the next leg.

From the beach, you ride another 25 minutes to a water cave 25 feet deep. The pool inside stays cold year-round, and swimmers jump in while others photograph the rock formations. After 20 minutes there, you ride back to the ranch, a final 15-minute stretch, where your driver is waiting to return you to your hotel. The guide rides with the group and speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or one additional language depending on your option.
