ATV Riding in Punta Cana: Water Cave & Macao Beach
Four hours in your own buggy, from forest to cave to open sand
A half-day off-road buggy tour in Punta Cana where you drive your own vehicle through backcountry to a 25 ft water cave, Macao Beach, and a working organic farm. You operate the buggy the whole time, stop to swim and relax on the beach, taste local products, and return with round-trip transport and a guide in your choice of language.
Step-by-step itinerary
Buggy ride, cave swim, beach visit
- Ride buggy through forest and gardens
- Stop at organic farm
- Swim in 25 ft deep water cave
- Drive to Macao Beach
- Relax at Macao Beach
The Experience
You drive your own buggy for the full 4 hours. The tour starts with rough forest roads and lush gardens, moving between stops without a driver doing the work for you. After about 20 minutes of riding, you reach a water cave 25 ft deep where you swim in the natural pool. The cave sits inland, so the ride there is part of the experience—not a transfer to watch from a passenger seat.
From the cave, you drive to Macao Beach, a 30-minute ride that takes you past limestone cliffs. The beach itself is the longest stop: you have time to wade, rest on the sand, and let the ride settle. Between the cave and the beach, the route passes through an organic farm where you stop to taste Dominican products—coffee, chocolate, and other local goods. The farm visit breaks up the driving and gives you a sense of how the region works beyond the tourist circuit.
Round-trip transport is included, so you don't arrange your own way to the starting point. A live guide travels with your group and speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French. Helmets are provided. The tour runs 4 hours total, which means you're back with time left in your day. You choose at checkout whether to ride solo in a buggy, share one with another adult, or ride with two or three others in a larger vehicle—the route and stops stay the same.

Operated by Dreams Come True Tours
Is this one for you? You're comfortable operating an off-road vehicle on rough terrain and want to drive rather than be driven. The solo or shared buggy options let you control the pace and experience the backcountry directly instead of watching it pass from a passenger window.
