The experience

Ko Lanta's four islands sit in clear water with coral reefs full of clownfish and other marine life. The speedboat moves between them, giving you time to snorkel at each stop and swim on white-sand beaches. The real draw is Emerald Cave on Koh Mook: a lagoon hidden inside a limestone cliff that you reach by swimming through an underwater tunnel roughly 80 meters long. Once you surface inside, the cave opens to a sandy beach and sheer rock walls, a sight found nowhere else in Thailand.

The day runs 8 to 9 hours from hotel pickup. You'll wear a snorkeling mask, fins and life jacket provided by the tour. The guide stays with the group and speaks English. Between snorkeling sessions there's time to relax and sunbathe on the beach. Lunch is authentic Thai food with a soft drink and fresh fruit, eaten on one of the islands.

What you bring: swimwear, sunscreen, a towel and a camera in a waterproof case if you want photos underwater. The speedboat moves between islands, so the pace is set by the group, not by you. This is a shared tour, not a private one. The national park entry fee (200 THB per adult, 100 THB per child) is paid separately when you arrive.
