The experience
So yeah, the boat leaves at eight in the morning, and they pick you up right from your hotel on Ko Lanta: either from the beach if you're close enough, or they send a car to the lobby. The speedboat itself is the kind of thing you notice: modern, spacious, indoor and outdoor seating, clean toilet, all the safety gear that actually matters. The ride to Koh Haa takes about thirty minutes, and that's where the first snorkel happens. The last snorkel happens in the afternoon at Koh Rok Nai, and then you pass the waterfall by boat on the way back. It's a small thing but it breaks up the ride. You're back at your hotel by four-thirty, which means you've had a full day on the water without it feeling rushed. The boat carries snorkeling equipment and life jackets, so you don't need to bring your own, though plenty of people bring a GoPro or waterproof phone case to get footage of the reefs. Drinking water and fruit are included, and there's basic accident insurance built in. The whole thing runs with a minimum of fifteen people, so you're never alone on the boat, but the groups stay small enough that the crew can actually pay attention to where you are.
