The experience

The boat leaves Koh Lanta between 8 and 9 in the morning (either picked up from your hotel by truck or collected directly from the beach by speed boat), and reaches Koh Mook in less than 30 minutes. The Emerald Cave is the centerpiece: you put on a life jacket and headlamp, then swim through an 80-meter tunnel in near darkness until daylight breaks through and opens onto a 360-degree lagoon enclosed by rainforest walls. The crew stays with the group the whole way through.

After the cave, the boat anchors at Koh Kradan for the first snorkel stop in shallow coral reef, then pulls ashore for a Thai buffet lunch served on the beach. You get an hour to eat, walk along the sand, or wade in the shallows before heading back out. The second snorkel site is Koh Chuak, a small island with its own reef system and fish. The final stop is Koh Ngai, where there are no roads or shops, only a quiet beach to walk and rest before the return journey. You're back at your hotel by mid-afternoon.

The speed boat holds 35 people maximum, which keeps the group manageable at the cave and the reef sites. A professional guide speaks English and Thai throughout. Snorkeling equipment, life jackets, drinking water and fresh fruit are all provided. You bring only a towel and sunscreen. The tour is subject to change if weather or sea conditions shift, and a minimum of 15 passengers is required to run.
