The experience
The boat leaves Koh Lanta pier at 8am and reaches Koh Rok Nok, the outer reef, within an hour. You snorkel there for 40 minutes, then move to a second point on the same island for another 40 minutes before heading inland to Hat Man Si, the national park office, where you'll have lunch on the sand and time to walk or rest. A guide leads you up to the viewpoint after eating, then back down to Hin Ngam Bay for a third snorkel where sea turtles and moray eels are common. The boat departs Koh Rok at 3:30pm and arrives back at the pier by 4:30pm, after which you're transferred to your hotel.
What you bring: a life jacket, snorkeling mask and fins provided. What you do is operate them yourself at each stop, with the guide in the water nearby. The crew serves a buffet lunch on the beach with seasonal fruit and drinking water throughout the day. Because Koh Rok sits far enough offshore that weather and sea conditions can shift the schedule, the itinerary is subject to change. The operator will notify you in advance if that happens and offer an alternative date or full refund.
A minimum of 10 people is required for the tour to run. Children from age 4 are welcome, though the national park charges a separate entry fee (400 THB per adult, 200 THB per child) payable when you arrive. The tour includes accident insurance and a first aid kit on board.

Is this one for you?You snorkel at each reef yourself with a guide in the water nearby, not watching from the boat. The full-day format and three separate snorkeling stops suit anyone who wants to maximize time in the water and see different parts of the reef, rather than a shorter half-day trip to a single site.
