The experience
The speedboat leaves Ko Lanta in the morning and runs seven to eight hours, stopping at five named sites across the Phi Phi Islands. You'll spend time swimming and taking pictures at Maya Bay, the beach from the film "The Beach," then move on to the Viking Cave and the sculpted limestone cliffs of Nui Bay. Pileh Lagoon sits in emerald water you can swim through, and Monkey Island lets you watch the resident monkeys, though the operator warns they steal unguarded belongings. Between the sightseeing stops, you snorkel at Shark Point and one other reef site where the tropical reefs hold the fish and coral the description names.
The boat carries snorkeling masks and life jackets for everyone, and a guide speaks English throughout the day. Lunch is a buffet served on the boat, with drinking water and fruit included. Hotel pickup from Ko Lanta is part of the booking, so you don't arrange transport to the pier. The national park fee (400 Thai baht per adult, 200 per child) is paid at the entry point, not in advance.

Is this one for you?At seven to eight hours, this day fills most of a schedule in Ko Lanta and leaves little room for other activities. Book it when you want to spend the full morning and afternoon on the water and islands, not when you need a half-day option or time for town exploration.
