The experience

The mangrove section runs two hours by your choice of kayak or longtail boat, moving through the forest reserve to spot the animals that live there: crabs, mudskippers, hawksbill turtles. After that, the guide takes you to Lanta old town, where the wooden buildings and narrow streets sit on the east coast overlooking the water. You walk through on your own pace, stopping at shops selling local crafts and products, and the restaurants built out over the sea are there if you want to eat.

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, as is the guide who speaks English and Thai. You get a life jacket, bottled water and seasonal fruit during the boat section. The tour runs either morning (starting at 9am) or afternoon (starting at 1pm), so you can fit it around the rest of your day in Ko Lanta.
