The experience
You start with hotel pickup in the morning and transfer to Tung Yee Peng pier on the east coast of Koh Lanta. The guide meets you at the water's edge and walks you through the setup before you push off into the Tung Yee Peng Mangrove Forest, an officially protected area where the water narrows between dense green walls. On the half-day trip, you paddle through the mangroves, visit a fish farm, and return to your hotel by early afternoon. On the full day, the mangroves are just the start.
The full-day option takes you out to Koh Aung and Talabeng Island by longtail boat, then you paddle into sea caves with fresh water, stalagmites and stalactites that catch the light. You swim in the emerald lagoon at Talabeng Cave and explore the rock formations. Lunch happens on Bu Bu Island, where you can rest on the beach before the return trip back to Koh Lanta. The whole day runs from 8am to around 3:30pm. Weather and sea conditions can shift the itinerary, so the guide will adapt the route if needed.
You paddle your own kayak the whole time. This is not a boat ride. The guide handles navigation and safety. You handle the paddle. The life jacket, kayak and all gear come with the booking, along with basic accident insurance and the national park entrance fee. Drinking water and seasonal fruit appear at the mangrove restaurant on the half day, and lunch is cooked for you on the full day.

What's the difference between the half-day and full-day kayaking options?
Half-day covers the Tung Yee Peng Mangrove Forest, a fish farm visit, and a break at the mangrove restaurant with fruit and a soft drink. Full-day adds a longtail boat ride to Koh Aung and Talabeng Island, sea cave exploration, a swim in the emerald lagoon, and lunch on Bu Bu Island beach, running until around 3:30pm.
Does the kayaking trip include a guide, or do I paddle on my own?
A professional English-speaking guide leads the whole trip and navigates the route. You paddle your own kayak, but the guide stays with the group and handles safety and logistics.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my booking?
The itinerary can change due to weather and sea conditions. The guide will adapt the route to keep you safe, so you might visit different caves or islands than planned, but the kayaking and mangrove forest time stay part of the day.
