The Experience

You're going to spend most of the morning on a speedboat, and honestly, that's the whole point. The boat leaves Ao Nang or Krabi City early, and for the next six or seven hours you're moving between three islands — Phi Phi, Maya, and Bamboo — with stops for snorkeling, lunch, and just standing there looking at limestone cliffs that rise straight out of the water. The speedboat cuts the travel time down, which means you get actual time at each place instead of spending the day in transit.

Pileh Lagoon is the first real stop, a cove ringed by those cliffs, and the water is so clear you can see the bottom. Lunch is a buffet on Phi Phi Don Island itself, so you're eating on solid ground with a view. Bamboo Island is the last stop, smaller and quieter than the others, with a beach that curves around it and water so clear it almost doesn't look real.
