The experience
The speedboat leaves Krabi in early morning to reach Phi Phi Island before the regular tour groups. Maya Bay comes first (the cove where "The Beach" was filmed, tucked behind Lohsama Bay) followed by Pileh Bay, a sheltered lagoon where the water stays clear enough to jump from the boat and photograph. Viking Cave sits on a limestone cliff where swiftlet birds nest. The stop includes time to look inside and take photos from the water.
Monkey Beach is where long-tailed macaques come down to the shore. You swim in clear water and watch the monkeys move through the trees. After lunch at a restaurant on Phi Phi Don, the boat heads to Bamboo Island, a medium-sized island in the middle of the Andaman Sea with white sand and shallow reefs where you can spot hermit crabs and monitor lizards. Chicken Island (Koh Kai) follows: a limestone peak shaped like a chicken's head and the landmark of the four-island circuit. At low tide, the Miracle Sand Bank emerges between Koh Tub and Koh Moore, and you walk across the exposed sand to reach Chicken Island on foot. The final stop is Poda Island, a long curved beach backed by pine trees, visible from Ao Nang Beach on the mainland.
The tour includes round-trip transfers from your Krabi hotel by air-conditioned van, Thai buffet lunch, snorkeling equipment, life vests, drinking water, soft drinks and seasonal fruit. A guide speaks English and Thai throughout. The Marine National Park entrance fee (400 THB for adults, 200 THB for children) is paid in cash on-site and is not included in the tour price.

What is Maya Bay actually like when we get there?
Maya Bay is a sandy cove enclosed by limestone cliffs, famous as the filming location for the 1996 film "The Beach." It sits adjacent to Lohsama Bay on the back side of Phi Phi Island and is the first stop on the tour, reached before the afternoon crowds.
Can we snorkel at every stop or only some of them?
Snorkeling happens at multiple stops throughout the day. Bamboo Island and Monkey Beach are the main snorkeling sites where you enter the water with equipment provided. The other stops include time in the water as well, depending on conditions and the guide's route.
What are the Miracle Sand Bank and Chicken Island?
Chicken Island (Koh Kai) is a limestone rock formation shaped like a chicken's head and serves as the landmark of the four-island tour. The Miracle Sand Bank is a natural phenomenon at Koh Tub and Koh Moore where sand emerges above the waterline at low tide, allowing you to walk across to Chicken Island on foot rather than by boat.
How early do we need to wake up for the early bird departure?
The tour departs in early morning from Krabi to arrive at the islands before regular tour groups. The exact pickup time depends on your hotel location, but an early start is the defining feature that gives you the best conditions and fewer crowds at each stop.

Thai buffet lunch is included and served at a restaurant on Phi Phi Don island. The meal is part of the tour price and happens midday after the morning snorkeling stops.
