Half or full day.★ 4.97 (117)1h 30mUS$ 48View › The first thing I noticed was the soft slap of waves against the hull as we left Krabi’s pier—just this gentle rhythm, and the faint smell of salt mixed with sunscreen. Our guide, Niran, pointed out those twin limestone cliffs (he called them the “Gateway to Krabi”) right as a fishing boat sputtered by. It felt like everyone on board went quiet for a second, just watching the green peaks slide past. I tried to snap a photo but honestly, it didn’t really catch how tall they looked from the water.
Later, drifting closer to Chicken Island (yeah, it actually does look like a chicken’s head—Niran laughed when I squinted at it), we dropped anchor. The water was so clear you could see these flickering blue fish darting under the surface. I’d never used a clear kayak before; paddling over coral patches felt weirdly like floating above an aquarium. My friend almost tipped us both in trying to take a selfie—so yeah, those kayaks are really see-through. At one point we just stopped paddling and let ourselves drift, sun on our backs and nothing but that sloshy sound underneath.
Snorkeling near Tub Island was my favorite part. The mask fogged up at first (user error) but once I got it sorted, there were these neon parrotfish nibbling at rocks right beneath me. When we climbed back on deck, someone handed me slices of cold pineapple and this mousse thing—vanilla passion fruit? It tasted tangy-sweet and somehow made my hands sticky in the best way. There was soft music playing somewhere behind us but all I remember is just sitting there with wet hair and thinking how far away regular life felt.
