The experience
The boat leaves Krabi River Marina after a sightseeing pass through Krabi Town, where the twin limestone peaks of Khao Kanab Nam rise above the mangrove forest. The route then heads to the 4 Islands: a photo stop at Chicken Island (which does resemble a chicken's head if you squint), a brief halt at the Thale Waek sandbar that appears only at low tide, and a cruise past Koh Poda, a small limestone island ringed by white sand and covered in palm and pine. The catamaran carries two decks and an air-conditioned cabin, so there's shelter if the weather shifts.
You spend roughly an hour snorkeling at Phra Nang Cave Beach, part of the Railay peninsula. Premium snorkeling masks and life jackets are on board. The water here is clear enough to see the reef, and the beach itself sits at the base of a limestone cliff. After climbing back aboard, the boat moves to the sundeck for the main event: the sunset over the Andaman Sea, with soft music playing and the Krabi coastline spread out in front of you. Salt-baked shrimps and Thai snacks come with the cruise. Thai desserts and seasonal fruit follow. Alcoholic drinks are available to purchase at the bar.
The return to the marina takes you past Thara Park and the lit-up downtown skyline. Hotel transfers run both ways: pickup from Krabi Town, Ao Nang, Klong Muang or Tubkaek Beach, then back to your hotel after the cruise ends. A professional guide speaks English throughout. Note that the national park entrance fee (200 THB per adult, 100 THB per child) is paid separately at the point of entry.
Is this one for you?The boat departs in the late afternoon and returns after dark, so this cruise works best if your hotel schedule is flexible around an evening outing. Snorkeling is a short, shallow activity at Phra Nang, and the catamaran stays anchored while you're in the water, so even weak swimmers can participate with the life jacket on.

What exactly is Phra Nang Cave Beach, and why is it worth the snorkel stop?
Phra Nang Cave Beach is a limestone-backed cove on the Railay peninsula famous for its clear water and reef life. The cave itself sits at the base of the cliff, and the beach is accessible only by boat, which is why the snorkeling here feels more remote than the crowded mainland shores.
Does the boat stop at Railay Beach itself, or just near it?
The cruise visits Phra Nang Cave Beach, which is part of the Railay peninsula, but does not dock at Railay Beach town. You snorkel at Phra Nang, then return to the boat for dinner and the sunset.
What happens if the weather or sea conditions turn rough?
The tour program is subject to change due to weather and sea conditions. The operator will adjust the itinerary if needed, but specific contingency details are best confirmed at pickup.
Is the snorkeling gear included, or do I need to bring my own?
Premium snorkeling masks and life jackets are provided on the boat at no extra cost. You do not need to bring your own.
How much time do I actually spend in the water versus on the boat?
You spend roughly one hour snorkeling at Phra Nang Cave Beach. The rest of the 4-hour cruise is spent sailing between islands, watching the sunset on the sundeck, and dining.
