The experience

The boat leaves from Krabi Town, Ao Nang, Klong Muang or Tub Kaek (your hotel pickup determines the departure point), and heads to Poda Island and surrounding waters where you'll spend the afternoon snorkeling and swimming in the coral reef. The guide handles the route and timing. You bring only your comfort in the water. Snorkeling mask, life jacket and fishing pole are all provided, so you can either stay in the water or cast a line from the deck if you prefer.

As the sun moves lower, the boat cruises west toward the Railay peninsula. Dinner arrives on board: grilled seafood and Thai dishes served as the light changes across the water. You can eat on deck or move to the beach if the boat anchors close enough. After sunset, those who want to swim again can slip back into the water to see the bioluminescent plankton: tiny organisms that glow when disturbed, creating an ethereal effect in the darkness.

The 5- to 6-hour outing wraps with a return to your hotel. The tour includes drinking water, fresh fruit, a first aid kit, Western toilet and shower facilities aboard, accident insurance, and free WiFi. A national park fee of 200 THB per adult and 100 THB per child is payable at the entry point, not included in the ticket price.
