The experience

You have a free afternoon or a morning in Krabi and want to get into the water without renting a boat yourself. The tour picks you up from your hotel, drives you to the pier, and loads you onto a longtail boat with a small group and a guide who speaks English. The boat heads first to Railay Bay, where limestone cliffs rise straight out of the sea and you can see why the beach is famous before the snorkeling even starts.

The snorkeling happens at multiple stops across the day. At Tup Island and Chicken Island, you enter the water with the gear provided (wetsuit, mask, fins, life jacket), and swim through coral reefs where tropical fish move in schools and sea turtles drift past. The water is clear enough to see the bottom and the reef structure. The guide points out what to look for. Between snorkels you float on the boat, drink water and eat seasonal fruit and coconut. If you book the Sunset option, you get a hot dinner set served at Poda Island while you watch the light change over the water. The Morning option skips the meal but gives you more time on the islands themselves. Either way, the boat returns to the pier and your hotel pickup driver takes you back.

The tour runs five hours total. You choose between morning and sunset departures, and whether to add hotel pickup and drop-off or arrange your own transport to the pier. The national park entry fee (200 baht per adult, 100 baht per child) is not included and you'll need to bring cash to pay it at the gate.
