The experience

The boat leaves Nopparat Thara Pier after pickup from your Krabi hotel (Ao Nang, Krabi Town, Ao Nam Mao, Klong Muang, Tubkaek Beach or Railay Beach). You'll cruise by speed boat to Hong Island itself, an uninhabited half-circle of white sand where white-faced gibbons and monitor lizards live among the palms. The main draw here is the 360° viewpoint at the top and the dramatic lagoon entrance (a narrow cliff passage you photograph on the way out) that opens into a sheltered interior lagoon where the water sits still and clear.

Two snorkeling stops anchor the day: the first at Koh Lading, a small limestone island with high cliffs and sandy beaches where the reef runs 45 minutes, and a second stop of equal length at another reef site. Between them you'll visit Koh Pakbia to swim and photograph the sandbars that emerge at low tide. Lunch (a package of seasonal fruit and refreshments) arrives at the twin bays of Koh Hong. If you booked the kayaking option, you explore the waters around Hong Island at your own pace. Without it, you stay with the group on the boat and at the snorkeling sites.

The tour runs six hours total. Snorkeling equipment, life jacket and drinking water are provided. A professional guide speaks English and leads the stops. The operator strongly recommends wearing the life jacket throughout both the boat ride and the water time.
