The experience

The boat leaves Krabi in the morning and heads straight into the Andaman Sea toward Bamboo Island and the limestone formations that ring the Phi Phi group. You'll snorkel at three separate sites, each with different coral and fish, and the guide points out what you're seeing underwater. A life jacket and snorkeling mask are provided, along with a first aid kit on board. The pace is built around water time. You get to choose how long to stay in the water at each stop, and there's no rushing between sites.

The day includes stops at four named landmarks. Viking Cave sits on a cliff face where workers still harvest bird nests using traditional methods. You'll see the wall paintings and take photos from the boat or the beach below. Pileh Cove holds a lagoon ringed by vertical rock walls and fed by a freshwater spring. The water there is noticeably clear and shallow enough to stand. Maya Bay, the beach from the film "The Beach," is where you swim and relax on white sand. Monkey Beach rounds out the afternoon with another snorkel session and time to rest before lunch.

Lunch is buffet-style at a beachfront restaurant, with drinking water and fresh fruit included. The tour operator holds SHA Plus certification for customer safety. Hotel pickup and drop-off cover Ao Nang and nearby areas. Guests from Krabi Town, Klong Muang or Tub Kaek pay an extra 100 baht per person to the driver on the day. The national park entrance fee (400 baht for adults, 200 baht for children aged 4–11) is paid separately when you arrive. Note that Maya Bay closes annually from August 1 to September 30 for environmental recovery, during which you can view it from the boat but not step onto the beach.
