The experience

The tour starts with a drive inland to Tegalalang Rice Terrace, where stepped paddies drop away across a valley. You walk through the manicured emerald fields, learn how Balinese farmers manage the water systems, and find the swings strung between the palms: the kind built specifically to hang you out over the jungle backdrop for photographs. The scale of the terraces and the working landscape around them set the tone for what follows.

Next is Gunung Kawi Sebatu, a spring temple where natural water feeds crystal-clear pools surrounded by ancient shrines.
