The Experience
The day starts at Tegenungan Waterfall, where a scenic staircase descends to a stream framed by lush green cliffs. The water is clear enough to swim in, and the spot sits far enough outside the main village that the tropical forest still feels untouched. From there the route moves to Tirta Empul Temple in Tampaksiring, a thousand-year-old site built around sacred spring water used in Balinese purification ceremonies. The temple's stone architecture and spiritual purpose give the morning a different texture than the natural attractions.
Tegalalang Rice Terrace comes next—the vast emerald-green fields carved into hillsides and framed by coconut palms. This is where lunch happens, with Indonesian food served while you look out over the terraces. The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary follows, a rainforest reserve in the heart of Ubud Village itself, home to macaques and woven through with temple structures that serve the local community. The final stop is Saraswati Temple, completed in 1952 and designed by master architect I Gusti Nyoman Lempad. Its stone sculptures and lotus ponds make it a visual anchor for the day.
A private air-conditioned car and the same English-speaking driver throughout means no switching vehicles or waiting for group departures. Entrance fees, parking, petrol and one bottle of mineral water per person are included. The driver knows the route and the sites, so the day holds together without anyone building it.
