The experience
The day starts with pickup from your Belize City hotel and a drive to Nohoch Che'en near Frank's Eddy. Once there, your guide fits you with a helmet, headlamp, life vest and tube, then walks the group through the forest to the Caves Branch River. The walk is the approach, not strenuous, just the path in. Then you float, spending roughly an hour and a half drifting through the limestone cave system and open-river sections while your guide points out the formations overhead. The current does the work. You stay seated in the tube.
Because the tour is private (or small-group, depending on which option you book), your guide can adjust the pace to match your group's comfort. You move at the speed that works for everyone, not on a fixed schedule pushing ahead. The guide is there the whole time, leading from the water and managing the route. All the gear stays with you: helmet and headlamp stay on throughout so you can see the cave ceiling and walls as you pass under them.
The full experience runs about 5 hours from pickup to drop-off. Bring a change of clothes and a towel. You'll be wet. Soft drinks and bottled water are provided, but you'll need to arrange lunch separately or eat before or after. The activity is not wheelchair accessible, and it's not recommended for anyone with back problems.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (5 to 9 years); Infant (under 5).
Can I do cave tubing if I've never been in a cave before?
Yes. The guide gives a full safety briefing before you enter the water, and you're floating, not climbing or navigating tight spaces. The helmet and headlamp stay on so you can see, and the life vest keeps you secure in the tube. No prior cave experience is needed.
What's the difference between the private tour and the groups tour?
The private tour is your group only, moving at your own pace. The groups tour combines multiple bookings into one outing with a shared guide. Both include the same gear, guide service, pickup and park fees. The private option just means you're not waiting for or coordinating with other parties.
How long do I actually spend floating in the cave?
About an hour and a half in the water. The full 5-hour experience includes the drive from Belize City, the forest walk to the river, the safety briefing, the float itself, and the return to your hotel.
What happens if our ship docks late or we're delayed getting back to Belize City?
At booking, cruise passengers must provide the ship name, docking time, disembarkation time and re-boarding time. If the ship runs late and you miss the tour, refunds are not issued. Build in buffer time between your disembarkation and the pickup window.
Is there a minimum group size?
Yes, a minimum of 2 people per booking is required. Solo travelers would need to book a shared groups tour or arrange a private booking with another person.
