The experience
Jaguar Paw sits 45 minutes inland from Belize City by road, so the day starts with a ferry or flight from San Pedro to the mainland. You pick which one at checkout, or arrange your own transfer. Once your group arrives in Belize City, a driver takes you west through paved roads in air-conditioned comfort. Your guide meets you at the outpost and issues inflatable tubes, headlamps and life vests before a safety briefing.
The cave tubing begins with a 30-minute hike through rainforest on mostly flat terrain, wading through a few knee-deep water streams. Your guide points out the flora and fauna as you move through the shaded canopy. Then you float the underground river, watching limestone formations pass overhead. The ziplining comes next: trained guides handle all the safety setup as you move between platforms and see the forest from above. Allow about 7 hours for the full experience, and because the tour is private, your group moves at a comfortable pace within the confirmed itinerary.
Children from age 5 are welcome when at least two paying adults are in the group. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for the rainforest section. The experience is not wheelchair accessible and is not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with back or spinal injuries.
