Zipline through Belize City rainforest with cave tubing and Mayan history in a single day. Hike jungle trails to a cave system where you tube down an underground river past Mayan artifacts, then zip across the canopy and over the river on a series of lines. The guide covers plant identification and Mayan history on the hike, and lunch at a local restaurant is included.

The experience

The day starts with a 10 to 15 minute hike through jungle trails to the cave system entrance, where your guide points out plants and explains the area's Mayan history and culture. The cave itself was used by the Mayan kingdom, and you'll see that history firsthand: once you reach the river inside, you tube down an easy-flowing underground current while exploring the exotic Mayan artifacts left behind in the cave structures. Your guide explains what you're seeing as you drift through.

After the cave, lunch happens at a local restaurant where you try world-renowned Belizean cuisine. Then comes the zipline: a series of lines that take you through the jungle canopy, over the river, and across the scenery from above. The gear (harness, helmet, gloves) is provided, and the instructors set up each line.

Hotel and cruise terminal pickup is included, as is round-trip transport in an air-conditioned vehicle. You'll wear a tube, headlamp and life vest for the cave section. Bring a change of clothes, sunscreen and a towel. The guide and zipline instructors are not included in gratuities.
